RELEASE OF DESMOND RICHARDSON SCULPTURE

Sculptor Joan Banks announces the release of “Solo,” bronze sculpture of world renowned dancer Desmond Richardson from his signature dance. A limited edition of 100, the sculpture measures 32” tall by 16” wide, mounted on a marble base. The first artist proof will be offered for auction at Complexions Contemporary Ballet Company Gala on November 15th, 2007. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Complexions to support their excellent dance and community outreach programs.

“I am mesmerized by Ms. Banks’ creativity and detail to line, capturing not only the physical but the passion and focus that I give to my performances,” said Desmond Richardson. Hailed by the New York Times as “one of the great modern dancers of his time,” Desmond Richardson is a 2007 Dance Magazine award recipient.

Joan Banks has been gaining accolades for her elegant and poignant works, as well as her desire to utilize her gifts for social betterment. Her 2004 bust of Tupac, created to benefit the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Performing Arts, will be permanently on display at the center’s museum. Pieces in progress include a bust of Audrey Hepburn (to be donated to UNICEF) and a sculpture of a world class female gymnast.
